Authorities are investigating what appears to be a multivehicle crash on Interstate 15 just north of the 10th Avenue South exit.

The crash, which occurred about 5:35 p.m. Thursday, reportedly involved a car and a semi-truck, with the small car visible in the median between the south- and northbound lanes.

An ambulance and Benefis' Mercy Flight transported people from the scene. The freeway was closed for a while but has since been reopened.

According to Great Falls Fire/Rescue Battalion Chief Bob Shupe, a man and woman in the car were injured. They were ejected when their vehicle was hit by a cattle truck.

The female was taken to the hospital by ambulance, which arrived first on the scene. The man was airlifted.

He said the female was in critical condition.

The interstate was closed for a while but has since been reopened.

The Montana Highway Patrol and Great Falls Police Department are investigating with assistance from the Cascade County Sheriff's Office.

No further information was immediately available.
