Carroll signs two members of CMR championship soccer team

HELENA – A pair C.M. Russell girls’ soccer standouts will continue their careers on the pitch for Carroll College, the institution announced Monday.

Rustler seniors Talya Vaira and Payton Netz are two of four signees Saints head coach David Thorvilson will bring to Helena next season. They are joined by Bozeman’s Devan Murfitt and Holly Anderson out of Spokane, Wash.

Vaira and Netz were pivotal to the Rustlers’ run to a state title last fall, the first soccer state championship for any Great Falls school. Vaira was named both Tribune Super-State and all-state in her senior year while Netz merited an all-state honorable mention.

The pair will join former Rustlers Lexi Pyette and Ali Zimmerman, both rising seniors, on the Saints’ squad.
