Prep Tennis: Bison, Rustlers fare well vs. Helena teams

Girls' teams from Great Falls High and C.M. Russell High both picked up victories Tuesday in double-dual tennis competitions with teams from Helena High and Helena Capital.

In the boys' competition, the Bison boys earned a victory and a tie while the Rustlers went 0-1-1 on the afternoon.

The matches were played at Hurd Courts, CMR Courts and Meadow Lark CC Courts.

The Great Falls High girls' squad of coach Jan Dodds sparkled, winning 6-2 over both Capital and Helena. Abigail Davidson at No. 1 doubles earned two victories, as did three of the four Bison doubles teams.

The CMR girls' team of coach Bailey Lagge won two matches by 7-1 scores. Leading the way was the No. 1 doubles team of Lindsay Martinez-Mackenzie George, which dropped only two games en route to straight-set victories.

In boys' action, Great Falls defeated Capital 5-3 and tied 4-4 with Helena High. The Russell boys tied 4-4 with Capital and dropped a 7-1 decision to Helena.

The tennis teams are back in action Thursday afternoon at 1 as teams from Conrad and Cut Bank visit Great Falls.
