Bobcats’ McEndoo heads to Oklahoma St.

Longtime offensive line coach Jason McEndoo is leaving Montana State for a new position at Oklahoma State, Fox Sports reported Thursday.

Citing a report on FootballScoop.com, Fox Sports said McEndoo is one of three new coaches to join head coach Mike Gunday’s OSU Cowboy coaching staff.

McEndoo was first hired to coach the Bobcat offensive line by former MSU coach Mike Kramer and has been at Montana State since 2003. The former Washington State star player was named the FCS Assistant Coach of the Year in 2011 while working for Bobcat head coach Rob Ash.

The Bobcats won or shared five Big Sky Conference championships with McEndoo as an assistant coach.

Americans skate against Glacier Friday

The Great Falls Americans begin the final weekend of regular-season play Friday night at 7:30 as the Glacier Nationals visit the IcePlex.

The Americans of coach Jeff Heimel lead the Frontier Division of the NA3HL and will conclude the regular season Sunday afternoon at 4 at the IcePlex against Billings. Great Falls is 33-9 on the season, with three overtime losses. The Americans have 69 points, just three ahead of Helena and four ahead of Gillette.

UGF softball team in Idaho for tourney

The University of Great Falls softball team competes in the Northwest Nazarene University/College of Idaho Invitational this weekend in Nampa and Caldwell, Idaho.

The Lady Argonauts (4-2) have two games each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. UGF plays Eastern Oregon at noon Friday in Nampa, and travels to Caldwell for a game against No. 21 College of Idaho at 4.

Saturday the Lady Argonauts play the University of British Columbia at noon and No. 15 Concordia (Ore.) at 4. Both games are in Nampa.

The tournament concludes Sunday in Caldwell, as UGF takes on No. 21 College of Idaho at noon and EOU at 2.

The Lady Argos are coming off an impressive weekend that saw them beat three ranked teams at the Northwest Cup in Oregon. UGF garnered victories over No. 21 College of Idaho (10-4), No. 17 Oregon Tech (3-0) and No. 15 Concordia (8-7). The weekend also included a victory over unranked EOU.

Keeley Van Blaricom has a 2-1 record and a 2.63 earned run average in the circle. She has struck out 14 in 16 innings pitched. Kirstie Thomas and Kayeley Lyons are each hitting .500. Thomas has two runs, while Lyons has one.

Regan Rucks (.417) and Alex Lowry (.333, one home run) are also off to solid starts for the Lady Argos.

Following the NNU/COI Invite UGF heads to Arizona for the Tucson Invitational. The Lady Argos will play 12 games in six days during UGF’s spring break.

MSU’s McCutchen stars at Bobcat Open

BOZEMAN – Montana State’s Carley McCutchen became the first pentathlete in Big Sky Conference history to eclipse 4,000 points Friday during the Bobcat Open indoor meet at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

McCutchen finished with a score of 4,034, breaking the previous league mark of 3,929 set by former Bobcat and current assistant coach Erin Jones-Graf.

McCutchen won the 800 meters, the 60-meter hurdles, the high jump and the long jump, and placed second behind teammate Danielle Muri in the shot put.

Grizzlies add three late football recruits

Quarterback Eric Prater has transferred to the University of Montana from Hawaii, and Butte Central star Danny Peoples has also joined the Grizzly program.

Prater, a 6-foot-2, 205-pounder from Lake Havasu, Ariz., redshirted last season with the Warriors. Prater, 23, initially enrolled at Northern Arizona right out of high school but did not play in any games before heading for Hawaii as a walk-on.

Peoples will walk on with the Grizzlies as a safety. He threw for just under 2,000 yards with 18 TDs and rushed for another 700 with 12 scores.

E. Washington men drill Bobcats

CHENEY, Wash. – Montana State’s Marcus Colbert scored 27 points, but the Bobcats were blown out by Eastern Washington here Thursday night.

Stephen Holm and Michael Dison combined for 22 points for the Bobcats.
