A man accused of loading a gun and pointing it at his roommate made his initial court appearance Thursday. Sean W. McLarnon, 23, of Great Falls, is charged with one count of assault with a weapon, a felony.

According to court documents, the Great Falls Police Department responded to a disturbance call early Thursday morning. The police report says one of the males living at the residence on the 900 block of 5th Avenue North was home and spoke to investigators. He told police his two roommates were involved in an altercation, during which the defendant was highly intoxicated.

The report says the alleged victim told investigators McLarnon was banging on and kicking the door to his room, and when he opened the door, McLarnon shoved him and the other male shoved him back. The man told police McLarnon left the room and returned with a pistol. The alleged victim said McLarnon loaded a magazine into the pistol, chambered a round and pointed it at his face, according to the police report.

McLarnon was not at the home during the initial investigation, but the report says he was located and arrested later.

Bail was set at $25,000.
