The investigation continues into a fatal crash west of Stanford that took the life of Great Falls resident, 26-year-old Robyn B. Farmer, Monday afternoon.

According to the investigating police officer, Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Fredenberg, no criminal charges have been filed.

A news release issued by Deputy Judith Basin County coroner, Dick Brown, reported Farmer was killed and her infant daughter injured after an oncoming Chevy pickup truck, driven by an unidentified man, crashed head-on into the Toyota RAV4 sport-utility vehicle Farmer was driving.

“According to Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old man was driving east and attempted to pass a slow-moving tractor by moving into the oncoming lane,” the coroner’s report states.

Farmer was headed westbound when her vehicle was struck head-on by the pickup. Farmer and her daughter were taken the Benefis Health System in Great Falls, where Farmer was pronounced dead. Her daughter suffered minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, officials said.

The driver of the Chevy pickup suffered a broken leg and other nonlife-threatening injuries. Farmer was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, the pickup’s driver was not. A Highway Patrol incident report states that speed was a factor in the crash; however, alcohol use is unknown.

Fredenberg said any potential criminal charges will be prosecuted through the Judith Basin County Attorney’s Office.
