Parking meters become art downtown

Tribune Staff

The Great Falls Business Improvement District unveiled its latest art project over the weekend — the Parking Meter Art Project.

This art project continues the BID’s beautification efforts and expands its work to make the downtown more colorful and visually appealing. The portable meters will be available at all downtown events this year.

These meters are not functional parking meters, but works of art, and people who appreciate the art will be encouraged to “plug” the meters with their donations. The funds collected will be returned to the downtown through the work of the BID. Eventually, the meters will be placed in a permanent garden.

The artists involved in the inaugural Parking Meter Art Project are Sheree Nelson, Frankie Stockman, Jessica Haldenwanger and Alexandria Adams.

The BID project is a partnership with the city of Great Falls, Standard Parking and Advanced Coatings.
