Phillips County authorities ID crash victim

Authorities have identified the man who died in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Phillips County this weekend.

The Phillips County Sheriff/Coroner’s office identified the driver as 20-year-old Ryan M. Shaw of Malta.

The rollover occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at mile marker 23 on U.S. Highway 191, north of Malta.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, Shaw failed to maintain control of the 2004 Chevy Tahoe he was driving as he negotiated a right curve that turned into a slight left curve, officials said. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle rolled.

Shaw was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old occupant, also from Malta, was transported to the hospital, officials said.
