Tribune Staff

MISSOULA – Sikes Orvis and Victor Velasquez each ripped a two-run single in a four-run top of the seventh inning to boost the Great Falls Voyagers to an 8-5 win over the Missoula Osprey in a Pioneer League game at Allegiance Field at Ogren Park.

The Voyagers snapped their brief two-game losing skid with the win, and currently lead the Osprey by just percentage points in the first half of the Pioneer League North campaign.

The two teams were tied at 4 going into the top of the seventh, when Orvis rapped a safety to center to bring home Antonio Rodriguez and Jake Jarvis.

Orvis and Jackson later scored on Velasquez' single to give the Voyagers an 8-4 lead.

Great Falls took the early lead and was up 3-0 after 21/2 innings before Missoula scored three in the bottom of the third to tie things up. Each squad added one in the fifth.

Jarvis had a single and double in five at bats for Great Falls.

Dante Flores also drove in a pair of runs.

Bryant Holtman came on in relief for Missoula in the sixth and was charged with all four runs in the seventh. It is his first professional loss.

Danny Dopico pitched the final two innings to get the save.

Drew Hasler got his first win in relief of starter Tanner Banks.

The same two teams are in action Friday night at 6:35 at Allegiance Field.

Brandon Easterling (1-0, 2.25 ERA) will get the starting nod for the Voyagers.
