The Bozeman Hawks clinched the race for the Great Falls Tribune's All-Sports Award two weeks ago with a state Class AA title in girls' tennis and a second in boys' tennis.

But Kalispell Glacier and Corvallis gave them a run for their money, anyway.

The Hawks, who added a fourth-place final in girls' track over the weekend, earned their 12th Tribune All-Sports Award with 124 points, bolstered by titles in girls' tennis, boys' and girls' cross country, and boys' soccer.

Glacier, who added a crown in Class AA girls' softball to their football title last fall, was 15 points back with 109, while the Red Devils, who swept the Class A boys' and girls' track meets last weekend, took third with 98.

Billings Senior came in fourth with 85, with Billings Central right on their heels at 82 points. Bigfork (77), Whitefish (75), Columbia Falls (68), and Billings West (67) copped places five through nine, with Billings Skyview and Missoula Hellgate tying for tenth with 65 points each.

C.M. Russell High was the top local school, collecting 48 points to finish 15th. Other area schools in the top 50 were Choteau (tied for 16th), Chinook (tied for 18th), Belt (tied for 22nd), Malta (tied for 31st), Havre (tied for 31st), Geraldine-Highwood (tied for 35th), Conrad-Choteau (tied for 35th), Great Falls High (42nd), and Saco-Whitewater Hinsdale (tied for 44th). All totaled, 91 schools scored no less than three points in the competition.

Points are awarded for top-four finishes in prep team sports. Maximum points awarded are 25 points to state champions in football, volleyball, basketball, softball and track, 12 points for all other sports. Points won by co-operative teams are given as a co-op, rather than dividing the points between the separate schools.
