Ballots for the City Commission primary election go in the mail Monday and voters should start receiving their ballots as early as Tuesday.

Voters should vote for one person for mayor and two for commission.

The top two mayoral vote-getters and the top four commission vote-getters will advance to the general election in November.

On the ballot for mayor: Bob Kelly, Mike Trueman, Michael Winters, Brian Shepherd and Jacob Schaak.

On the ballot for two four-year commission seats are: Kenny Volk, Neil Tredray, Rick Tryon, Bill Bronson, Tracy Houck, Don Petrini and Brad Livingston.

This year, about 22,500 ballots will be mailed, said Lynn DeRoche, the Cascade County elections supervisor.

Voters can mail their ballots back any time before Election Day Sept. 15. They can also drop them in a ballot box in the foyer of the county building at 325 2nd St. N. or in the elections office inside that building.

On Election Day, voters can still drop ballots in the foyer, but the office will be closed and election staff will operate in Exhibition Hall at the fairgrounds from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 15.

Great Falls residents can register to vote on Election Day.

DeRoche said voters must sign the back of the green affirmation envelope when returning their ballot, or it will not be counted.

Election officials will not open or count any ballots until after the polls close at 8 p.m. Sept. 15.
