Signs say that on The Border in the Market Place area of Great Falls has closed for business.

On the Border, a Mexican-style restaurant, has closed for good, and Moonshine Grill, a restaurant a couple blocks to the south owned by the same family, apparently has closed temporarily.

A spokesman for the Shoot the Moon company that owns both restaurants as well as nearby Chili’s Grill in the Market Place area of southwest Great Falls, declined to comment on the status of the businesses or if another restaurant will replace On the Border.

A sign posted on the doors of On the Border, at the corner of Market Place Drive and 14th Street Southwest, said: “We thank you for your loyalty, Great Falls. Unfortunately, On the Border Great Falls is now closed.”

On the Border opened in the summer of 2009 in a building that earlier housed Tony Roma’s ribs restaurant.

A sign posted at Moonshine Grlll says the restaurant in southwestern Great Falls is closed because of flooding.

A sign posted in the window of the Moonshine Grill restaurant, 1420 14th St. S.W ., said “Closed until further notice due to flooding.”

The Shoot the Moon company headquarters are between the Moonshine Grill and Chili’s, which remains open. The Moonshine Grill building earlier served as a Macaroni Grill restaurant.

Shoot the Moon LLC. has been one of the larger private employers in Great Falls, with some 137 employees listed earlier in the year at its restaurants and office.

The company also operates a restaurant in the Grizzly Bend on Malmstrom Air Force Base. The 341st Force Support Squadron, which operates the Grizzly Bend, posted on Facebook Thursday: "Grizzly Bend food & beverage services are curtailed until further notice!

The good news is that Appreciation Nights will be moved to the Bowling Center for the time being so we can all still enjoy MSG Thursdays and Defender & RED HORSE Fridays!

Sorry for the inconvenience."
