Man charged with child sex assault

A Great Falls man accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl made his initial court appearance on a felony sexual assault charge Tuesday afternoon.

Court documents say Brandon Cordell Bennett, 41, touched the girl inappropriately Saturday. The charging affidavit says a witness saw part of the conduct and reported it.

The police report indicates Bennett initially claimed the girl was lying, but said later during questioning that he may have had some sexual contact with her, but minimized his reported actions.

Court documents list two previous domestic violence convictions. Bennett's bond was set at $75,000.
