HELENA — The Montana Department of Agriculture announced Thursday that state representative Christy Clark has been appointed  chief of the department's agricultural development and marketing bureau.

Clark previously served three terms as a representative in the Montana State Legislature, but will not be seeking re-election. She will begin her new position immediately, replacing Kim Falcon, who is now the Agricultural Development Division Administrator and Deputy Director.

Clark is a fifth generation rancher who was born and raised in the Choteau area. Together with her husband, Lew, Clark still owns and operates a ranch outside Choteau and a small business, The Meat Shoppe, in Bozeman.

“Christy not only brings her ranching background to the position, but experience owning and operating a small food and meat processing business. Both perfect fits for the position,” said Ron de Yong, Montana Department of Agriculture Director.

“I am passionate about agriculture and have spent most of my life advocating for it in one way or another," said Clark. "Working as the development and marketing bureau chief is an opportunity to serve agriculture in another capacity.  I am looking forward to working for producers and consumers to promote Montana’s number one industry.”
