Saco author adds to cute ranch dog series
One can’t help but smile looking at the lolling tongues and wagging tails of the dogs in Scott Haynes’ latest Roadie the Ranch Dog book.
In “Ten Darn Dogs,” Roadie is joined by nine pups for adventures around the ranch. One by one the cow dogs disappear.
The children’s book is designed to encourage counting and adds fun with rhyming. Haynes’ art is the highlight, however, with scenes from the ranch.
Haynes grew up on a farm/ranch near Saco, which he said gave him lots of “ammo” for his drawings. He lives in Wyoming now.
“A lot of my humor comes from the people I grew up around, and there was always a dog or two in the way,” he said.
Haynes’s art has been featured on Leanin’ Tree greeting cards in Western Horseman Magazine.
