Sheriff suspends search for missing girl

BOZEMAN (AP) – The Gallatin County sheriff has suspended the search for an 8-year-old Logan girl who fell into the water at Headwaters State Park near Three Forks.

Sheriff Brian Gootkin announced the suspension on Sunday, a week after Madison Veele went missing.

Gootkin says active, daily searches are ending, but there will be regular patrols, and officials will resume the search if they receive new information or if conditions indicate a reasonable probability of finding her.

Gootkin says searchers have put in more than 3,000 man-hours on the ground, water and air over the past week.
