A man accused of stealing a gun from a weekend gun show at the Montana ExpoPark made his initial court appearance Monday. William Harvey Flesch faces one count of felony theft for allegedly taking a Colt revolver valued at $3,500 from a vendor's booth at the Gun and Antique Show on Saturday.

According to court documents, an off-duty Teton County sheriff's deputy confronted Flesch about the missing firearm. The report says Flesch admitted to taking the gun and retrieved it from his truck and turned it over to the deputy and the booth owner.

Flesch was arrested later that day at his home, according to the Cascade County Sheriff's Office report. That document says Flesch told the responding deputy he didn't understand why he was being arrested because he "gave the gun back."

The state requested bond be set at $1,000.
