MISSOULA It's been quite a day for Marina LaRocque.
The Great Falls High senior turned in her second lights-out pitching performance of the day Friday afternoon to lead the Bison over rival C.M. Russell, 3-1, in an elimination game at the Class AA state softball tournament.
After amassing 12 strikeouts in five shutout innings to keep Great Falls High alive against Helena Capital, LaRocque turned in a complete game victory against the Rustlers, which had beaten her twice already this season.
LaRocque also homered in the game, a solo shot in the fourth inning that gave the Bison the lead for good.
Katie Nicholson knocked in an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth for GFH.
Myla Robbins drove in the only CMR run of the day with a solo home run in the first. It was her third of the day after the Rustler second baseman smacked two in this morning's loss to Missoula Big Sky.
CMR ends the season with a 20-4 record and an Eastern AA regular season championship to add to the trophy case.
Great Falls High plays Billings West in a loser-out contest beginning momentarily.
