Knights of Columbus hosts breakfast benefit

On Jan. 31, the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Matthew MC Hugh Assembly 592 and Knights of Columbus Bishop Eldon B. Schuster Council 1493 combined their efforts and hosted a breakfast benefit.

The benefit was held to raise financial support from the community and Knights of Columbus to help defray medical expenses for the family of Michael Diekhans, who is battling a determined medical condition.

Twenty-two Knights, their spouses and families served breakfast to over 450 members of the community. The benefit breakfast was said to be a “grand success.”

DUI Task Force awarding scholarships

The Cascade County DUI Task Force will be awarding one $1,000 scholarship to three high school graduating seniors in Cascade County again this year.

Those wishing to apply for the scholarship must submit a letter of request that describes their involvement with alcohol or drug abuse — either through their family, organizations or personally — a copy of school transcripts and at least two letters of endorsement.

Students convicted of or that have been on any deferred prosecution or deferred sentence can also qualify, but must show that there has been a continued commitment to abstinence by a letter from a teacher or professional.

If interested, students can contact their school administration or call Jerry Kelley at 406-455-9331 during business hours. Nomination letters must be postmarked no later than April 4. Hand deliveries or late submissions will not be considered.
