Funeral services are Saturday for a man who died Tuesday when a mower deck he was working at a Hinsdale school collapsed on top of him, officials said.

Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier said his office received a call at about 1 p.m. Tuesday about an accident at the school. While en route to the scene, officials were told the victim was unresponsive. Meier, who also serves as county coroner, pronounced Bradley Palmer, 53, dead at the scene.

“It was just a simple accident,” Meier said. “He was doing maintenance work and dislodged the mower deck. His death was immediate.”

Family members said Palmer was working at the school at the time of his death, according to an obituary posted at www.bellmortuarymontana.com.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hinsdale School Gymnasium, with burial to follow at the Hinsdale Cemetery. A potluck will be at the Hinsdale School Cafeteria following burial.

Survivors include his parents: Terry Palmer of Hinsdale and Marian Palmer of Great Falls; son Janson of Glasgow; daughter Katrina Heser of Billings; brother Kyle Palmer of Hinsdale; and a sister Rhonda (Dale) Schultz of Billings.
