Chargers A beats Lethbridge Giants

Tribune Staff

The Great Falls Chargers A team scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back, cruising to an 8-3 win over the Lethbridge Giants Sunday in the Tom Taleff Tournament at Centene Stadium.

Great Falls managed only one hit in the frame – an RBI single by Tyler Strickland – but the Chargers took advantage of two hit batsmen, two walks and an error to plate four. Brent Sheppard’s bases-loaded walk accounted for another run.

The Giants got to Chargers starter Matt Gange for a pair in the first, but the right-hander was stellar from there. He went four innings for the win.

The Chargers blew the game open in the top of the sixth thanks to back-to-back RBI singles from Chase Linn and Brandon Lefebre. Great Falls would score four in the inning thanks to more shoddy Lethbridge fielding.

The Taleff tournament comes to an end on Memorial Day with both the Chargers AA and Chargers A teams in action.

The AA team plays the Edmonton Cardinals AA at 10:30 a.m. at Centene Stadium. The Chargers A are back in action against Lethbridge at 11 a.m. at Don Olson Field.
