Roundup teacher earns history teacher of year award

Tonya Brewer, a fourth-grade teacher at Roundup Central Elementary School in Roundup, is the winner of the 26th Montana Statehood Centennial Bell Award honoring the Montana History Teacher of the Year at the fourth- through sixth-grade level.

She and her class will travel to Helena on Nov. 6 to receive her award at a ceremony at the state Capitol. She will receive a plaque and $2,500 from the Montana Television Network, the Montana History Foundation and Sons and Daughters of Montana Pioneers for materials to enhance Montana history learning in her classroom.

Next year a Montana history teacher at the seventh- through 12th-grade level will be honored.
