One person was fatally injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 15 near mile marker 251, south of Cascade, Sunday afternoon.

The crash is still under investigation, said Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Dana Cockrell. From the initial investigation, it appears the male driver, who was headed northbound on the Interstate, drifted off the left side of the road. The driver overcorrected and then overcorrected again, went into the southbound lanes and rolled.

“It looks like he missed the curve,” Cockrell said.

It appears the driver was not wearing his seat belt because he was ejected from the Dodge Dakota pickup he was driving.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The crash occurred around 3:25 p.m. Sunday. Mercy Flight and an ambulance responded.

The car caught fire after the crash and set a field on fire. Cascade Fire responded and put out the blaze, Cockrell said.

Before the ambulance or Mercy Flight reached the scene, dispatch confirmed that the only person in the crash had died.
