A Cascade County woman accused of kicking a detention officer while being booked into jail changed her plea in court Wednesday.

Sheena M. Haxton, 34, pleaded guilty to the sole charge against her in this case, assault on a peace officer, a felony, through a binding global plea agreement with the state that also encompasses a 2014 case.

In exchange for her guilty plea, the state is recommending a five-year term with the Montana Department of Corrections with three years suspended. That sentence would run concurrent to any sentence she receives in her other pending case.

Haxton admitted in court to kicking a detention officer at the Cascade County Detention Center in January after being arrested for DUI. Haxton acknowledged she injured the officer after being told to settle down.

Court documents show Haxton’s criminal history includes assault, assault on a minor and disorderly conduct.

Her sentencing date will be set by court order.
