7-year-old wants to be a bull rider

Jessica Gray

Teeghan Severson, son of Tessa Dear and Trevor Severson, is 7 years old and a second-grader at Sacajawea Elementary School. He loves all things western and prides himself on being a cowboy.

“I’m a cowboy just like my Pa and Lane Frost,” Teeghan said. “I am going to be a bull rider and as good as Lane!”

Teeghan refused to change his ripped pants.

“This is cool; the sheep did this to my pants!” Teeghan said. He walked around proudly for the rest of the rodeo.

For the rodeo, Teeghan is wearing a red Wrangler button-up shirt and a pair of Cinch jeans from Hoglunds Western Wear. His palm leaf straw hat and cowboy boots are from Hoglunds as well. He has on an official bull-riders vest from Western Ranch Supply.

He is most proud of his belt buckle, which he won for “Mutton Bustin” at the Big Sky Pro Rodeo Round-up in 2013 when he was only 4.

Teeghan rode a sheep for an 81-point ride this year at the Cascade Rodeo. When the sheep finally knocked him off, its hoof ripped his back left pocket so it was hanging off his jeans.
