Get Fit Great Falls teams up with Centene Stadium to present a free fitness festival Saturday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fourth annual Come Out and Play event brings soccer superstar Abby Wambach and Pitch Perfect actress Kelley Jakle to Great Falls to encourage the community to get active and make healthy food choices.

Jakle, a high school athlete and lauded vocalist, plays Jessica, a Barden Bella, in Pitch Perfect and appears in Pitch Perfect 2.

Wambach and the U.S. Women’s National team won the World Cup in Vancouver in July. She scored the game-winning goal against Nigeria in group play. The all-time leading goal scorer in international soccer history, Wambach has also won two gold medals, was FIFA World’s player of the year in 2012 and scored the game-winning goal at the 2015 World Cup. This is her fourth year coming to Great Falls.

Both tweeted about their trek to the Electric City this week.

Jakle wrote, “Geeking out that I get to kick it with @AbbyWambach next weekend at #getfitgreatfalls!” and Wambach replied “If you’re geeking out then I don’t know what I am then ... So excited. Huge fan.”

The morning fitness festival includes a cowboy boot camp, fitness obstacle course, Native American games, wiffle ball, 3-on-3 soccer and health and nutritional booths. Participants of all ages can enjoy these activities with a little help from Wambach, Jakle and Voyagers team members.

The stars will speak during two rest breaks, emphasizing the necessity of trying many different activities to find your path in life.

“What these women represent is doing the right thing,” said Get Fit Great Falls Director Lacey Gallagher. “And that’s what we want to resonate with our community.”

Keep the fun going by attending the Voyagers fan appreciation game Saturday evening, where Jakle will sing the national anthem and Wambach will throw out the first pitch. Both stars have radio broadcast interviews lined up during the game and will sign autographs for fans. Clinic attendees get in free and join Wambach and Jakle on the field to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch.

“How often do the people in our community, especially our youth, have the opportunity to meet an athlete or an actress of this caliber?” said Gallagher. “And how great of these two to come out on a holiday weekend to our community to encourage young people to be healthy.”
