State water projects to get nearly $3M

From Tribune Reports

Sen. Jon Tester said Wednesday that nearly $3 million in Army Corps of Engineers grants will be poured into Montana water projects.

Montana communities use these Army Corps grants, which are made possible through the Water Resources Development Act Section 595 program.

The grants can be used to upgrade wastewater treatment facilities, water supply infrastructure, environmental restoration, and surface water resource protection and development.

Tester, D-Mont., who sits on the Appropriations subcommittee that funds water projects, said this funding represents a critical investment in many Montana communities.

“Montanans know the importance of clean water to the health of our communities and our outdoor way of life,” Tester said via email.

Of the funds, Bainville, Gallatin Gateway, Sanders County and Terry will get $200,000 each. Butte, Fergus Conservation District, Harlowton and Roundup will each get $250,000.

Bitterroot Conservation District will receive $300,000. South Winds Water and Sewer District and Sweet Grass Conservation District will each get $400,000, according to Tester.
