Registration underway for Homebuyer Education classes

Are you in the market to buy a home? NeighborWorks Great Falls HomeBuyer Education classes are the perfect way to learn about homebuying process.

Registration is underway for this fall’s classes which are held at NeighborWorks, 509 1st Ave. S. Monthly classes are held on two consecutive weeknights or on a Saturday. Participants are required to sign up for a 45-minute individual counseling session, which is included in the cost of the class.

Upcoming classes are:

  • 5 to 9 p.m., Aug. 17-18; register by Aug. 10
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 24; register by Sept. 16
  • 5 to 9 p.m., Oct. 19-20; register by Oct. 12
  • 5 to 9 p.m., Nov. 16-17; register by Nov. 9

A homebuyer education certificate is mandatory to participate in NeighborWorks programs, including buying a newly constructed NeighborWorks home, obtaining closing cost assistance on an existing home or participating in NeighborWorks’ Mutual Self-Help Program, under which families build their own homes.

Homeownership Planner Rosie Kiernan said individuals and families of all incomes benefit from attending the homebuyer education course even if no other NeighborWorks services are used. Topics covered include credit and budgeting information, working with a Realtor, applying for a loan, the home inspection, homeowners’ insurance and the closing process. Homebuyer education classes are aimed at anyone thinking of purchasing a home.
