Rockies turn back Voyagers in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Great Falls Voyagers dropped to 20-17 on the season with a 7-3 loss to the Grand Junction Rockies here Tuesday night in a Pioneer League game.

Wednesday’s game in Grand Junction marks the finale in the first half for the Voyagers, who are in second place in the Pioneer’s Northern Division. The Billings Mustangs won the first-half flag and will participate in the Pioneer playoffs.

Great Falls must win the second-half pennant in the North in order to qualify for the playoffs. The 38-game second half begins for the Voyagers on Friday in Billings. The Voyagers are off on Thursday and will take another break Aug. 1-3 for the all-star game between the Pioneer and the Northwest League.

The next home game for the Voyagers is Thursday, Aug. 4, against the Idaho Falls Chukars.

Corey Zangari had three hits, including a double, for Great Falls on Tuesday night. Sam Dexter also had three hits for the Voyagers of manager Tommy Thompson. Jameson Fisher had two hits.

Jensen Park finished a home run shy of the cycle and knocked in a pair for the Rockies, who improved to 16-21.
