The Great Falls Police Department is investigating the suspicious death of an adult female Friday night, but says the public need not be fearful because it has detained “persons of interest.”

The incident was reported shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday night near 10th Street South in the alley between 8th and 9th avenues.

The police log lists the incident as a homicide.

“We have detained persons of interest and we do not believe there is any threat to the public,” Sgt. Rob Beall added at a press briefing Saturday afternoon.

“We are currently investigating the incident and following up on leads as we get them,” a police press release said Saturday.

The police also asked for tips to help them in the investigation.

“We are asking for the community’s help,” the Facebook entry said. “If anyone believes they have information that may aid in the investigation please call our non-emergency line at 727-7688 X5 or send us a private message (via Facebook.)”
