The weekend’s prep football action featured a good number of blowouts, and those in this week’s edition of the Tribune’s Prep Football Top 10 played no small part as their team’s ran away with victories, while one game featured an impressive comeback.

Here is this week’s Top 10, in no particular order:

1. Scoring 48 points in a game is pretty impressive, but in one quarter? Insane. Ennis, the No. 4 ranked team in the Tribune’s Class C poll, had quite the first frame in a 62-28 Southern C victory over Shields Valley. Running back Jake Knack found pay dirt three times in the frame for the Mustangs’ first three scores.

2. Hot Springs makes a habit of racking up points, and this week Trevor Paro paced another impressive output from the Savage Heat on both sides of the ball, rushing for three touchdowns, returning a punt 47 yards for a score on top of returning a fumble 50 yards to the house in a 71-7 Western Six-Man drubbing of St. Regis.

3. After putting up 74 points in a loss to Great Falls Central last week, Chester-Joplin-Inverness quarterback Cory Richter and company put up another impressive game as the Hawks came out on the winning side in a 58-18 win over Simms Friday. Richter tossed for 238 yards and five touchdowns on a 12-16 passing day, also rushing for 110 yards and a score, while running back Brett Henke ripped off 238 yards and a score on the ground and had a touchdown reception as well. Receiver Clark Diemert snagged six passes for 153 markers and three scores.

4. Billings Senior quarterback Nathan Dick finds himself in the Top 10 once again, tossing two scores and rushing for two more, including an 87-yarder, as the No. 1 ranked Broncs stormed past Helena Capital 35-7. Dick accounted for 310 of the Broncs’ 422 yards.

5. Speaking of carrying the load, Wesley Harshbarger did just that in Twin Bridges 61-8 stomping of Seeley-Swan, scoring seven touchdowns including a 66-yard reception, a 48-yard run and an interception return.

6. Tanner Wilson of Polson had quite the all-around performance, rushing for 180 yards and four touchdowns while also throwing for 133 yards and a score as the Pirates downed Frenchtown 33-0 in Northwestern A action.

7. Cole Jensen and Max Lane proved to be quite the tandem Friday for Broadview-Lavina, with Jensen scoring seven total touchdowns, hauling in four from Lane, who finished with six scoring tosses, while also rushing for a pair and returning an interception for a touchdown as the Pirates won 67-20 in a Southern C contest.

8. Coming off a blowout 40-0 loss to Billings Senior and falling behind 21-3 early in the third quarter to C.M. Russell High on Friday, Butte refused to give up, ripping off 23 unanswered points in the second half to pick up a 26-23 win. The Bulldogs completed the comeback with just 24 seconds remaining, with quarterback Ty Peterson hitting Kiley Caprara for a 47-yard gain down to the one before punching it in on a sneak for the game-winner.

9. Charlo quarterback Landers Smith engineered quite the day to lead the way to a 66-12 win over Darby in Eight-Man action, tossing four touchdowns, rushing for a fifth, adding a 37-yard receiving score.

10. Whitehall quarterback Braden Larsen continued his impressive season as the Trojans remained undefeated Friday night, throwing a pair of touchdowns and rushing for three more in a 33-18 District 5B win over Boulder, finishing with nearly 300 yards of total offense.
