The Cascade CityCounty Health Department is holding a walk-in flu shot clinics Thursday.

Those who are 6 months and older can be vaccinated at the Community WalkIn Flu Shot Clinic from noon to 4 p.m. at the Exhibition Hall at Montana ExpoPark.

This year, CCHD will accept all forms of payments, including insurance at both clinics. Flu shots cost $30.

Most insurances cover the complete cost of the shot, so bring your insurance card.

CCHD encourages community members to get their flu shot from immunization experts through one of these easy and convenient clinics. Immunization staff working these clinics have received extensive training in proper vaccine storage and giving vaccinations safely.

Vaccination is recommended for everyone age 6 months and older. It is especially important for certain populations: infants, the elderly, those with chronic health conditions, health care workers, those who come in close contact with children younger than 6 months and pregnant women, but they need a doctors note to be vaccinated at the CCHD clinics.

Even if you got a flu shot last year, CCHD recommends you get one annually because flu strains change and this year’s vaccine is the best way to protect against the flu this season. You may experience some mild side effects from the vaccine, but you will not get the flu. If you previously got the flu after receiving the vaccine, you were most likely exposed to the virus before being vaccinated. Immunity is built within two weeks of getting vaccinated, according to CCHD.
