Rocky Boy’s police chief fired

The Associated Press

HAVRE — The Chippewa Cree Business Committee has fired the police chief on the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation.

Alan Primeau told the Havre Daily News that he was fired Friday after an executive session of the committee.

Tribal Court Judge Melody Whitford confirmed the firing.

Primeau was sworn in as the department’s police chief in December. He was suspended without pay on May 27.

Dustin Whitford — the chair of the tribe’s law and order committee — said at the time the tribe was notified of several claims alleging misconduct on Primeau’s part and had hired an outside investigator.

Primeau said he was told the tribe had evidence against him, but he was not given a reason for his termination.

He has denied any wrongdoing.
