Bison girls fall to Sentinel

MISSOULA - Senior Morgan Evans scored a game-high 12 points but the Great Falls High girls’ basketball team dropped a nonconference game 44-32 Monday afternoon to Missoula Sentinel.

The game was a makeup for a game which was postponed earlier this season due to poor traveling conditions.

“I thought we competed really well,” GFH head coach Jerry Schmitz said. “We made mistakes that they got a couple of easy baskets on and that was kind of the story. But overall I was happy with our effort and we played pretty well.”

Jordyn Schweyen, daughter of University of Montana legendary women’s basketball player and current Lady Griz coach Shannon (Cate) Schweyen, poured in a team-high 10 points for the Spartans.

Kayla Dailey added eight for undefeated Sentinel (8-0), while Kylie Frohlich, a two-time Tribune Super-State volleyball pick, chipped in seven.

Molly Schmitz dropped eight markers while Hannah Collins put in six for the Bison (1-1 conference, 5-5 overall), which have dropped two in a row after winning three consecutive contests.

The Bison were without starting post Dani Devlin, who was competing in a club volleyball tournament.

GFH hits the road this weekend to begin the remainder of its Eastern AA schedule, taking on Billings West Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Bozeman on Saturday at 4:30.
