Authorities ID biker in fatal Bootlegger crash

Authorities on Saturday identified the man who died from injuries suffered during a motorcycle crash earlier this week along Bootlegger Trail.

Thomas Mitcham, 67, of Great Falls was identified as the deceased by the Cascade County Sheriff-Coroner’s office. Mitcham was pronounced dead at Benefis Health System on Friday.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

A brief narrative from the official crash report states the motorcycle was southbound on Bootlegger Trail when, for an unknown reason, Mitcham drifted off the left side of the roadway.

Mitcham fell off the motorcycle, which then continued on unoccupied crashing through two fences. Alcohol and speed are not considered to be factors, and he was wearing his helmet. Montana Highway Patrol will continue to investigate.
